United Continental Airlines will launch daily non-stop flights from Manchester to Washington D.C. on May 2 next year, subject to government approval.
Untied, which has operated a Manchester to New York service since 1995, said the new flight would cut journey times for passengers travelling between Manchester and Washington and increase the range of options for those travelling beyond its Washington hub.
Flights will depart Manchester daily at 12:00noon, arriving at Washington/Dulles at 3:08pm local time the same day. Return flights will depart Washington/Dulles daily at 10:16pm and arrive at Manchester at 10:20am the next day.
Both the new Washington flight and the New York service will be operated by Continental Airlines Boeing 757-200 aircraft with 175 seats - 16 in BusinessFirst and 159 in economy.
Following their merger in October 2010 to form United Continental, the two carriers continue to operate separately pending the new company's receipt of a single operating certificate from the Federal Aviation Administration, which is expected to happen later this year.
